Winner project. The project consists in building 24 dwellings and a social services center at the Carmel neighborhood in Barcelona.
Public space and topography.
Creation of a new public space, the entrance hall of the new services and housing building, that enables the topographic transition from the surrounding steep streets into the building through an adapted path. The main volume faces Murtra street, where an open space under columns allows the plaza to surface into the street, ensuring the visual continuity of the public space.
Its topography is one of the most relevant aspects of the project, generating a space for the neighbors – the plaza, in a dense environment with very steep streets. This flat plaza at level +152connects Camí Vell del Coll street with Passeig de Mare de Déu del Coll and Murtra street.
