Project
The building stems out of the development of the area, takes advantage of its topography and becomes an extension of the public space, transforming the unencumbered outdoor space into a bonding and supportive social space that provides what’s needed: activity and people. Interior and exterior intertwine generating two new squares leveraging the gradient of the land. The outcome is a building where the line between inside and outside dilutes. The upper square/roof works as a viewing platform overlooking the Collserola range and the Casa de les Aigües building. The respect for the environment manifests in the use of the same ceramic material that merges the urban development with the building itself. Ceramic benches and banisters define its perimeter acting as skylights that bring sunlight into the interiors. The building, classed with an A energy rating, minimizes the energy demand thanks to the use of passive design tools and efficient and renewable energy sources.

Project
Comprehensive restoration and transformation of the interior of the old Tower of the Guinardó market into offices of the Institut Munipical de Mercats de Barcelona within the block of new Public Facilities. In this project, the restoration of the structure recovers the old unused spaces of the water tank and outside crown area to become new service spaces as well as a panoramic vantage point. The triple central space emerges out of the demolition of the existing service stair. The space now is articulated around the new staircase connecting the floors. Refurbishing the roof has allowed to bring sunlight inside by transforming part of the roof into a zenithal skylight located over the original staircase, what adds spatial and structural value to the space. The original entrance hall with ceramic vault has been recovered as a great access and exhibition space. |

Project
The Assisted Retirement Home and Senior Day Care Center occupies 6 out of the 7 floors of the ensemble of facility buildings of the Guinardó Market. However, in this case most of the program concentrates in the 3 upper floors. It features a total of 4.851,68 m2 of usable space, and 5.460,89 m2 of built space. The project upper floors gather the areas mostly dedicated to the users, while the lower floors house mostly adjunct services. The ground level contains the main entrance hall and the administration offices. The building public access is located in this main hall on the ground level and opens directly to Oblit street. As a result, the center occupies most of the façade of the ground level facing this street. The symbolic association of the Center with the access from Oblit street helps conferring it its particular character within the ensemble of facilities. Besides the entrance hall, the ground level also includes the administration, management and concierge offices.
The upper floors of the building are divided in two clearly differentiated areas. The Northern area is dedicated to the day care usages, while the Southern area is dedicated to residential usages. Both areas converge at the main hall, acting as conjunction of both usages.

Project
The Projecte d’Equipaments del Mercat del Guinardó is a complex ensemble of built 19.200m2 that integrates 5 different usages. The new ensemble becomes a new urban hub within the Guinardó neighborhood, integrating into the environment. The buildings fit into each other creating an architectural unit, where no building stands out over the other, prioritizing the public space. The anonymity of its outside, combining a white EIFS façade with a black ceramic base and trellis at the vertical access points, generates a serene architecture that integrates with its surroundings.
The primary health center (CAP), a building of ground level and four more floors, closes the plaza from the end opposite to the Market Tower. Through its access from the plaza it generates a connection between the Market plaza and the Teodor Llorente park.
The entries are emphasized by the incorporation of a wood trellis that differentiates each building.
In the interiors, each facility follows its particular logic and material appearance, each differing in the choice of materials and colors. The way the interiors are treated is what gives an identity to each usage.
The CAP combines black and white through the HPL panels at the examination and waiting rooms. The games of volumes and colors create rich spaces that are easy to identify by the users. |

Building of Ground Level plus 2 floors, that integrates a multipurpose and services room that can be made independent from the building at its access floor, a meeting and exhibition room, as well as several clear spaces ont the 2 upper floors that can be adjusted to different distribution options thanks to movable partition walls and sound-proof sliding doors.
The roof garden over the Ground Level, located on top of the assembly hall is a key element. This garden space is suitable for crops (completely waterproof gardening container of 35cm of soil depth), as well as to organize outdoor activities. This green roof appears out of pushing back the built volume of the Center in its upper floors with the goal of preserving the sunlight reach and the views over the existing neighboring dwellings, as well as to protect the privacy of such dwellings and of the Youth Center activities. The green roof enhances the sound-proofing of the hall underneath and creates a green lung in line with the Playground, the Courtyards and green roof of the Kindergarten and the courtyard of the Guinardó School located in the ground level of the dwellings volume.
This continuity of free green space inside the new buildings, of a more calm and quiet nature, is complemented with the continuity of green and public space surrounding the ensemble of facilities of the Guinardó Market.

Project
In a plot classified as 10hj will be built 3 residential buildings for young people. The project entails 48 dwellings and a parking lot located perpendicularly to Dr. Joaquim Albarrán street. The distribution of such 3 buildings seeks the maximum adaptability to the topography of the existing land, in a way that the ground levels and elevations vary depending on their position and level. The elevations built on Albarrán street should be minified in order to match the neighboring buildings, accumulating the maximum heights in the interior West area of the plot. The body heights won’t exceed ground level + 3 floors, measured from the benchmark level of each block. The buildings generate variations in height in order to liberate land, sky and views on the rear façades and allow the introduction of green areas for optional gatherings in the center of each block. The South facing position of the buildings ensures a good orientation of all the dwellings. The access to the dwellings is organized in walkways, accessible from the central communication core or staircase connecting the floors. Most of the stairs are open to the exterior, except for the ones in the ground floors giving access to each building, where the main entrance is independent for each block. The urbanization is staggered in terraces around two very different spaces. One of them of green nature as the topographic preexistence of a hill section. The other, an urban paved plaza located over the ground level and providing access to the community services.

Project
Rectangular volume very close to the main house, on level 97,26m, featuring 3 façades: one facing South-West, another facing North-West partially buried under the slope of a staircase from one of the façades of the main building, the Eastern façade adjacent to a chicken coop covered with a fibrocement sheets roof, and the Northern one making part of a wall that separates from the upper terrace on level 1010,07m. It is a building with slopping roof made of ceramic tiles that adapts to the surrounding environment.
The project uses the existing volume to build a wooden house made of a system prefabricated in workshop. CLT panels, wood pillars and wooden prefabricated façades show a special care for passive sustainability measures that achieve low energy consumption. The dwelling incorporates SELF-SUFFICIENT measures of electricity production, black sewage treatment through decantation tanks and grey waters recycling.

Project
The house makes part of the protected ensemble of the Bellmunt mining community, protection category BCIL and an integral protection level. The main entrance is through Passeig del Priorat, and the rear gives to non-urbanizable land through a small service access 2 meters under the street level. The views from the rear façade are clear and reach far away, overlooking the Natural Park of the Montsant range. The dwelling is located on a plot of 63m2 with a built surface of 60.53m2. the Project keeps the characteristic elements that confer patrimonial value to the ensemble, openings and façade elements, focusing on adapting the interior and the rear façade to the needs of a dwelling. The entrance to the dwelling is through Passeig del Priorat through a small hall distributing in one side the bathroom, and in the other the access to the living room – dining room – kitchen space giving to the rear façade, that incorporates a small terrace overlooking the Montsant range. At the ends of the dwelling facing the street there is the bedroom, and next to the bathroom, accessible from the kitchen, the pantry area and the utilities.
The use of minimal finish materials confers it a unitary and sober look. The continuous interior-exterior pavement amplifies the indoor spaces. Walls are in white plaster. Carpentry is lacquered in white for the doors and elements that mustn’t stand out, and oak for the elements that need to be highlighted, such as the large window of the main room or the exterior carpentry.
The project is conceived with the idea of using local technology and construction techniques that match the original work and its materials.
